What is Sculptra?
Sculptra® – Often called the Liquid facelift is treatment that activates your skin’s natural power to revitalize collagen production for a more youthful appearance. Sculptra is a unique A&C treatment due to its ability to stimulate collagen.
How does it work?
Sculptra works with your body to stimulate collagen production lost to aging, rebuilding and reinforcing your skin’s structural foundation. Through a series of treatments, typically about three sessions over a few months, it restores the support and volume of youthful looking skin, providing results that can last up to two years.
How many treatments are required?
The appropriate number of treatment sessions may vary but the amount of Sculptra® you require will be discussed with you. Clients with severe facial fat loss may require 3 to 6 treatments.
Do I need maintenance treatments?
Treatment results will differ for each person. On average treatment results lasted for at least 2 years after the first treatment session, in many clients. General advise is a single vial touch-up treatment every 12 months to maintain the desired effect.
Potential side effects
The most commonly reported side effects after treatment are redness, swelling, tenderness, injection site tenderness, bruising bleeding, itching and lumps.
When is treatment not advisable
Most people can have this treatment. However, you should NOT have this treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. We will of course review your medical history in full during your consultation to ensure this treatment is suitable for you.
Post treatment advice
Sculptra may cause redness, swelling, or bruising when first injected into the skin, typically resolving in hours to one week. Hematoma may also occur, typically resolving in hours to about two weeks. Worsening or prolonged symptoms or signs should be reported the Clinic. The original skin depression may initially reappear, but the depression should gradually improve within several weeks as the treatment effect of Sculptra occurs.
- It is recommended to massage in a circular fashion the treated areas for 5 minutes, 5 times per day for 5 days following any injection session.
• Aesthetic make-up may be applied a few hours post-treatment if no complications are present.
• Exposure of the treated area to sun and UV lamp exposure are to be avoided until any initial swelling and redness has resolved.
