IPL Hair Removal
What is IPL Hair Removal?
Intense Pulsed Light Ellipse is the latest technology in advanced permanent hair reduction. SWT hair removal is an efficient way of eliminating unwanted hair on the arms, legs, armpits and bikini line. Also very effective at removing unwanted facial hair including hair growth from Polycystic Ovaries and the Menopause – where hormone levels can cause excess hair growth resulting in low self-esteem and embarrassment. Also, laser hair removal is a great solution for ingrown hairs.
The Procedure
Laura will remove any remaining hair by shaving it with a disposable razor. She will then spread a thin layer of cooling gel to your skin. She will then move the hand held applicator over the entire treatment area, exactly one applicator width after each flash of light. You will be asked to wear dark glasses as will Laura.
How does it work?
Hair contains pigment (melanin) that absorbs the light and converts it to heat. The hair transmits this heat into the hair follicle which is then destroyed and rendered unable to produce a new hair.
Potential side effects
Redness, localised swelling and mild tenderness. Although rare, adverse effects such as light burns, blisters and bruises may occur. On some occasions the treatment may cause temporary pigmentation changes to the skin.
Post treatment advice
Excessive heat should be avoided for 48 hours and exposure to the sun, sun bed and fake tan must be avoided for 30 days after treatment. Also a sunblock of SPF 50 must be used on the exposed skin areas. Otherwise it is possible that blotchy skin pigmentation, hyper – or hypo pigmentation might occur.
Always apply a SPF 50 sunscreen
